Reminiscing

Hello, July!

Can you believe it is already JULY!? I realized recently that I have almost been working at Eagle Brook Church for a full year now. What a great time it has been getting to know my co-workers, families at SLP and of course...the children. So precious.

I remember almost exactly 1-year ago when I was sitting in the SLP worship center with Amanda, the wonderful woman who hired me, and Steve, the SLP campus pastor. They were talking about going to see fireworks for 4th of July, laughing and enjoying themselves and their conversation. Meanwhile I was sitting there, also smiling, trying not to pee my pants I was so nervous to teach as part of my interviewing process. I'm really glad that she didn't notice ;)

Amanda, my former boss, is now moving on from EBC and makes me really sad. I miss her already! In the year that I have been at Eagle Brook I have seen 3 of my close co-workers move on to different things. I miss each of them in different ways but it shows how faithful God is to lead us to where He wants us to be, even if people around you (our you!) don't quite understand. There is a time and a season for everything. I am enjoying this season of my life. Thank you, Lord!

Jake and I are looking forward to the next couple of weekends--we get to go to weddings! We are so excited to celebrate with our friends. Marriage is wonderful. This weekend we are going to see one of our closest friends, Aaron Johnson, get married. I have really been looking forward to it and would like to take this moment to reminisce. Jake and I met Aaron early on in college. Basically one of the first couple of weeks. Here is a picture of a crowd of random people who are now some great friends of mine:

Aren't friends great? In this picture is Aaron, in the red, and Matthew, in the back with his chin way high up--nice, Matt--who are now two of Jake's best friends. Alexa and Beth and I go way back, too...and then good ole' Micah. Quality.

Here is one of the first pictures of Jake and I together:

It is fun to look at old pictures! Here we are re-enacting that 2006 day later in 2009. We went around to all the places we had memories for my 21st birthday.

Reminiscing is fun. Have you ever looked back on old pictures, though, and seen a shirt you gave away and wish you still had it? That just happened to me. Oh, 3/4 sleeve blue shirt that looked great with those shorts, I miss you.

One last thing I must say...my tomato plant is getting ready to sprout some tomatoes! It has the little yellow buds that are getting ready to explode with yummy goodness. It is likely that you don't really care about my tomato plant, but you know what!?!? I'm posting pictures of my first home-grown tomato whether you like it or not :)
